"11 days after I got in-country I was wounded in a ground attack which was preceded by mortar attack. I was south of Quan Loi on Thunder Road in a little fire base called Defiance with 2 tracks of A 5/2. We were supporting an artillery battery of the 11th ACR at that little firebase. 7 guys killed and 52 wounded that night April 8, 1970."
"I had a track section get hit in Cambodia in support of the 5th ARVN Regiment. One of our gunners was killed. I flew in from Tay Ninh with a replacement crew and parts. Actually, flew back and forth several times that day getting parts from Tay Ninh. Got shot down on last mission, the pilot autorotated into Tay Ninh. I got another Huey and returned to Cambodia with more parts. I spent a few days with that section until we returned to Vietnam from Cambodia. (I was in Cambodia when Nixon was telling the world we were all out.)"
